Conventional metal braces can be an alternative for teenage or adult orthodontic treatment. They can be used to correct all types of crowding and malocclusion.

 

Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile.

 

The metal brackets are attached to the front surface of your teeth and the archwire is threaded through these. The braces alone do not move teeth; they are simply mechanisms that allow wires and other accouterments to affect the actual tooth movement (wires, chains, elastics, coil springs, and other devices). By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to a corrected position. Conventional metal braces are typically for 1–2 years treatment. They are traditionally one of the most effective methods of straightening teeth.
